Winter Storm Warning in effect for:
  • Fort Frances - Emo - Rainy River
Winter storm expected through Thursday night.

What:
Total snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm.
Reduced visibility in snow and blowing snow.
Risk of freezing rain.
Flash freeze.

When:
Late this afternoon through Thursday night.

Additional information:
A brief period of snow, possibly mixed with ice pellets and freezing rain, will develop late this afternoon. A lull in the precipitation is expected beginning this evening, although light snow may occasionally mix with freezing drizzle or drizzle.

Snow is expected to redevelop overnight into Thursday morning, but may begin as a brief period of freezing rain where temperatures remain below the freezing mark.

Northerly winds gusting 50 to 70 km/h are expected to develop Thursday as temperatures rapidly fall below the freezing mark. Strong northerly winds combined with snow may lead to poor visibility at times.

Conditions will improve from west to east through Thursday night.

Roads and walkways will likely be difficult to navigate. Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced to near zero at times.

Allow extra time for travel.
